7 JUNE 79 AU. 1715 HOURS.
DESIGNATION: 00007125-ALEPH.
UNIT: ASURA-00 PNEUMA

As far as I can tell, five were invited to the Summer Ball. Of these, two selectees stuck their necks out to start immediately. The other three said they needed time, and PROVIDENCE told them that they would be left “on reserve.”

They brought the two here. A girl and a boy: One Ajo Belkovo, Zone-Threer; and one Sido Kemboto, a fellow Zone-Oner. I have not been told their cultural names, unfortunately. Major Katzenstein showed them around the facilities, and Captain Landranjo debriefed me about them. The girl has a basal AVS of 44%, the boy one of 45%. Mine, before Shub-Niggurath, sat at 49%; now, it sits closer to 59%. She, docile; he, complicated, quiet. I’m not sure what exactly I am to do with this information, but I appreciate being informed nonetheless. I haven’t spoken to them yet. I hope they haven’t seen me.

Their ASURAs are different from mine. PNEUMA is a general-purpose “machine,” capable at most enterprises and pliable. A blank slate. ASURA-01, Ajo’s, is called PSYCHE; it is a heavily-armored, clambering unit, equipped with a large halberd engraved, like my weapons, with the ELDER SIGN. Over its right shoulder rests an enormous artillery piece. ASURA-02, Sido’s, is called HYLE; it is sleek and graceful, like a bird. It appears to be able to lift off from the ground for a few seconds with jump-jets. “It is an experimental weapon,” she said, “attempting to use your Mark of Amala for offensive purposes.” Otherwise, it’s armed with a long-barreled rifle and a knife, like PNEUMA. Mine is tyrian purple; Ajo’s a pastel yellow; and Sido’s a deep azure blue.

Azure — maybe some other word.

Unfortunately, our state of emergency hasn’t lifted yet, so they have no opportunity to rest now that they have become pilots. I hope that they make it fine through the next Enemy.

That they make it fine with me, too.
